Fishing in and around Lake Windermere

Fishing Lake Windermere
Windermere has arctic charr, brown trout, pike, perch, roach and eels. Salmon and sea trout pass through the lake to spawn in the tributaries. Smolts (young trout or salmon) migrate downstream through the lake in spring, on their way to the sea.

Ghyll Head Trout Fishery
Even in an area where beautiful scenery is commonplace Ghyll Head stands out from the crowd. This exceptional water is WADAA’s most popular fishery and justifiably so. The fishery nestles in a small elevated valley overlooking Windermere and is the perfect place for a day’s trout fishing.
